How do I log onto website to see member only information?

Click the person icon on the upper right-hand corner of the Website and you will be prompted for your username and password.

How do I sign up for a ride?

Choose a ride on the Ride Calendar. Click on the ride to open a field that includes details about the ride and a link for registering. The registration link connects to a new page for adding the rider name. After you register, you’ll receive a confirmation email.

How do I cancel myself from a ride after signing up?

The confirmation email will include a link that says “Cancel - I can’t come”. Clicking the links will remove your name from the ride registration list and trigger another email confirming the cancellation.

What do Ride Leaders do?

Ride Leaders plan rides including the route, the pace and the stops. Their goal is to make sure rides are safe and enjoyable. To that end, they welcome riders at the start, give an overview of the ride, remind riders how to stay safe and exemplify good rider etiquette. After the ride, they report miles ridden to Ride Statistics for each participant.

How do I use the club’s Ride with GPS (RWGPS) account?

HBC’s RWGPS membership allows members to use a free personal RWGPS account and app. Get started by setting up a free RWGPS account from their website: https://ridewithgps.com/ . Once your personal account is set up, you can HBC’s account and access club routes by using the link on the RWGPS tab located in the Members portion of our website. RWGPS resources are also listed there.

What should I wear on a ride?

ALWAYS wear a well-fitted helmet!

Beyond that, bike clothing should accomplish the following:

  • Keep you warm or cool based on conditions and dry quickly
  • Fit comfortably and entanglement with wheels, chains, brakes, etc.
  • Protect your buns and private parts – the main contact point on bike

Technical bike clothing is designed to help maintain body temperature, enhance comfort and stay dry.

  • Bike jerseys made with moisture-wicking materials dry quickly and have pockets in the back for storage.
  • Padded bike shorts have gender specific padding for comfort. Start with inexpensive options and upgrade based on comfort and ride distances.
  • Light rain or wind jackets – many will fit into jersey pockets or bike bags.
  • High visibility colors will help motorists spot you on the road.
