What should I wear on a ride?
ALWAYS wear a well-fitted helmet!
Beyond that, bike clothing should accomplish
the following:
- Keep you warm or cool based on conditions and
dry quickly
- Fit comfortably and entanglement with wheels,
chains, brakes, etc.
- Protect your buns and private parts – the main
contact point on bike
Technical bike clothing is
designed to help maintain body temperature, enhance comfort and stay dry.
- Bike jerseys made with moisture-wicking
materials dry quickly and have pockets in the back for storage.
- Padded bike shorts have gender specific padding
for comfort. Start with inexpensive options and upgrade based on comfort and
ride distances.
- Light rain or wind jackets – many will fit into
jersey pockets or bike bags.
- High visibility colors will help motorists spot
you on the road.
